Whitney Wolfe Herd Founder of Bumble on Forbes 30 Under 30

Whitney Wolfe Herd made the cover of Forbes magazine in December after a launch party for a new product in October. The product Bumble America has become one of the quickest growing dating app companies. The event was held at the Four Seasons Restaurant in Manhattan, New York, and Whitney Wolf Herd said with the new name, new management and menu it has a new perspective. This includes power lunches that are not just for men any longer and attracts a younger female crowd.

Bumble Wolfe Herd’s dating app has changed the dynamics of dating. She and her app are on the fast track to becoming one of the well known dating app names. The app has more than 22 million registered users. This app when Bumble was monetized sales for 2016 were expected to reach $100 million. Herd a co-founder and vice president of marketing at Tinder in June of 2014 sued the company for sexual harassment. The company meanwhile was owned by IAC and a Match Group competitor who took the title of co-founder away from Wolf Herd. The allegations were that her boss and ex-boyfriend Justin Mateen called her names and threatened her in text messages. These were attached to the complaint the lawsuit was later settled. This did not deter Wolfe-Herd who went on to create the Bumble app.

Wolfe Herd earned a degree from the Southern Methodist University in Utah where she majored in International Studies. Her first business she began at the age of 19 selling bamboo tote bags. The proceeds from the sales were then used to help the areas affected by the BP oil spill. Then at age 22, she worked with Hatch Labs and then became involved with Cardify with Sean Rad. This project was later abandoned.

Whitney Wolfe Herd is the founder and CEO of Bumble the first woman dating app. The app requires the woman to make the first contact by sending a message to prospective dates. Bumble was established after being the co-founder of the Tinder app a company she joined with Rad. The Bumble app for women dating has exploded in the dating market and is projected to keep growing through the 2018 year.
